Invensys CEO Ulf Henriksson says that that company is in negotiations to supply automated control systems for four Chinese nuclear reactors. In January 2009, Invensys won a $250 million contract to develop and implement four digital nuclear control rooms for the Fuqing and Fangjiashan nuclear power projects.
“We have had considerable success during the past two years in China’s rapidly expanding nuclear power generation market and we expect this success to continue as we are currently in negotiations to supply such solutions to four additional greenfield nuclear power stations,” he said at the Nomura’s Rail Infrastructure Seminar on 6 September.
Henriksson also said that the power market will be one of the company’s main focuses in future.
“For Invensys…emerging markets are a significant driver for growth and we are determined to capture an increasing share of the expenditure on not only rail infrastructure but also in the power and oil and gas sectors within Invensys Operations Management.”
As well as winning the contact to supply the four Chinese plants, over the last two years Invensys Process Systems (IPS) has also supplied solutions to nuclear power plants in Canada (Bruce), Taiwan (Kuosheng) and the USA (Columbia).
