The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has announced that Tony Fountain will be leaving the NDA to pursue his career back in the Oil and Gas sector. Fountain joined the NDA in October 2009 following a 25-year career at BP. He will be leaving to join Indian firm Reliance Industries.
NDA Chairman Stephen Henwood praised Fountain’s work at the NDA: “Tony has made a huge contribution to the NDA’s achievements over the last couple of years. He has reshaped the organisation to become more delivery focused, and under his leadership considerable progress has been made in our mission.”
Nuclear union Prospect expressed ‘shock and concern’ at the annocement.
“[Fountain’s] departure is not good news as it suggests policy differences. A change in strategy would be unwelcome when the industry needs stability,” said Prospect deputy general secretary Mike Clancy.
