Doosan Babcock and its partner Keltbray have completed the deplanting of the four boiler houses at Bradwell magnox nuclear power station in Essex.
The two-and-a-half year project involved deplanting and processing around 2500 tonnes of pipework and other components from the four boiler houses. During operation the boiler houses each contained three heat exchangers.
Work was completed one month ahead of schedule, reducing project costs, Doosan said.
The Bradwell station ceased generating in 2002 and fuel was removed in 2006. The plant is expected to enter the care and maintenance phase in 2015.
The Bradwell site is operated by Magnox Limited on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
