Chinese customers are satisfied with the results of tests at the Leningrad Metallurgy Plant (LMZ) of a 1000MWe turbine for Tianwan.
LMZ signed an agreement with Atomstroyexport to build two turbines for the plant by the end of 2002. The second turbine is under production, and supplies of equipment will be completed in March 2003. Talks are underway for the supply of a third and fourth turbine. Atomstroyexport and China signed a contract for supply of $130 million in equipment for the two power-producing units at the plant at the end of 1997. The launch of the first unit is planned for November 2003.
LMZ will complete assembly of the main components of a 1000MWe turbine for Bushehr in Iran by December 2001. Another three turbines are to be installed at Russia’s Kalinin plant, and at the Rovno and Khmelnitsky plants in Ukraine.
The Tianwan plant is being built in Lianyungang in eastern China, in accordance with a Russian-Chinese intergovernmental agreement of 1997.
