Westinghouse Electric has announced that it won a $68 million contract to design, manufacture and facilitate licensing of replacement steam generators (RSGs) for Tennessee Valley Authority’s Watts Bar 1.
Design, project management, and quality assurance work for the RSGs will take place in Westinghouse facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Madison, Pennsylvania, while licensing activities will be managed out of the Westinghouse Energy Center in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction of South Korea will manufacture the four RSGs as a subcontractor to Westinghouse.
Expected delivery of the steam generators to the 1158MWe, 4-loop Westinghouse-designed plant is late 2005 with installation scheduled for 2006.
Additionally, Westinghouse is finishing the manufacturing of four steam generators for TVA’s Sequoyah nuclear plant, scheduled for delivery this year, and delivered four steam generators to the South Texas Unit 2 plant earlier this year.
