The UKAEA has signed an alliance agreement with five companies to remove the last remaining nuclear material from Dounreay’s experimental fast reactor (DFR).

The package of work is expected to take until 2008 to complete at an estimated cost of £30 million ($45 million). The DFR Breeder Fuel Alliance contract was signed between UKAEA and Strachan & Henshaw, Framatome ANP, SGN, Atkins and Alstec.
