Alexander Sarayev, director general of Rosenergoatom, said that Russian nuclear power plants are very close to paying off all their debts, including loans taken from national power utility Unified Energy Systems (UES). He said: “As a result of the reorganisation, the nuclear power plants have no more debts to anyone, and we can now fully dedicate ourselves to production.” He expressed regret over the fact that in the course of the reorganisation, “considerable funds were spent on taxes, and on the settlement of debts, some of which had been restructured and could wait.” A total of $112 million was lost in that way last year, he said.
