Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Comex Nucleaire have won an order from EDF to supply six replacement steam generators (SGs) for French pressurised water reactors.
Comex Nucleaire, part of ONET Technologies, and MHI have been in collaboration since 2002. The 21m high, 300t SGs are to be manufactured at MHI’s Kobe Shipyard and Machinery Works, and are to be delivered between 2013 and 2014. Made of low-alloy steel, each SG houses more than 4000 heat transfer tubes made of Inconel TT690, a thermally treated nickel-chromium-iron alloy. Comex Nucleaire will provide engineering and specific studies, reconciliation with French standards and regulations, licensing support, oversight of subcontractors, inland transport of the SGs, and onsite services during their installation.
The new order brings to 12 the total of replacement SGs ordered by EdF from MHI since 2005.
