The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has put out a Request for Information (RFI) seeking responses from suppliers with Light Water Reactor (LWR) technology expertise, in Canada and internationally. The RFI posted, issued through Public Works and Government Services Canada, is on the Government of Canada procurement Web site (MERX) and closes on June 01, 2009 at 02:00 PM Eastern Daylight Saving Time.
The CNSC has initiated this RFI to prepare for the potential licence applications for new nuclear power plants that are based on light water reactor technology. The CNSC would need to increase its LWR expertise to prepare for and assess such licence applications.
Responses to the RFI process will be used for procurement planning of LWR expertise. Once the new nuclear power plants/light water reactor applications are received, a Request for Proposal process will be initiated to retain the required professional services.
