Russia’s Mashinostroitelny Zavod (MSZ), part of fuel company TVEL, has undergone an international audit of the quality management system for its compliance to requirements of contracts for nuclear fuel supplied to the Czech Republic’s Dukovany and Temelin NPPs. The inspection was carried out by representatives of Czech power company CEZ and engineering company ALTA. "They reviewed issues of quality assurance of the products, as well as the introduction of changes to the quality management system made by the previous audit (in 2013) and the implementation of a number of corrective measures," according to a TVEL’s statement of 12 May.
ALTA project head Roman Kubin noted that the MSZ quality management system "has undergone several changes to the better" and now "fully complies with the requirements of СEZ". A contract for fuel supplies for four VVER-440 reactors at Dukovany was signed for the period up to 2018 and for the two VVER-1000 reactors at Temelin until 2020.
