The first reactor coolant pump for unit 5 of China’s Fuqing NPP in Fujian province has passed factory acceptance tests. Unit 5 will host the first demonstration Hualong One unit at the site. The pump, manufactured by Dalian Deep Blue Pump, underwent a 400-hour durability test and 72-hour high-temperature test to ensure it met the required specifications, China National Nuclear Corporation said on 31 March. Fuqing 5 is expected to begin operation in 2019. Meanwhile, hot functional tests started on 25 March at unit 4, where a 1,087MWe CPR-1000 pressurised water reactor is scheduled to start up later this year. The tests aim to simulate the temperatures and pressures which the reactor's systems will experience during normal operation.
