France’s Trihom, a leading provider of nuclear training for all companies in the sector, on 27 September inaugurated France’s biggest training centre.
The new facility, in Normandy, has six training workshops which contain exact replicas of nuclear facilities of all types, including a reactor, a fuel cycle plant and a nuclear-powered submarine. These workshops will give trainees hands-on experience of nuclear operations, including the use of digital technologies.
It is part of a major development plan being rolled out by Trihom, which has 15 training centres throughout France and is owned by New Areva (66%) and industrial maintenance company Endel (34%). Trihom already trains more than 30,000 students each year through more than 200 nuclear-related training courses. It is planning to invest €7m ($8.2m) over the next few years to increase its training capacity and digitalise its entire training offer.
