Spain’s Tecnatom and the United Arab Emirates Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) on 30 October signed a memorandum of understanding on training to support future engineers and technicians for the country's first nuclear plant, Barakah.
Tecnatom said negotiations with IAT began in 2016 within the framework of Tecnatom’s efforts to provide support for Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation in the ambitious project for the construction of its first nuclear power plant.
IAT was established in 2005 and comprises 20 campuses (14 colleges, two centres at the Fatma College of Health Sciences and two colleges at the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic). Under the MOU, Tecnatom will also provide support in sectors such as the aerospace and oil and gas industries.
