Wood, the project, engineering and technical services company, has won a ten-year framework contract to supply programmable digital control technologies to Sellafield, Europe's largest nuclear site.
The contract, valued at $66 million, covers all stages of system design, equipment manufacture and assembly, obsolescence management and maintenance support for projects and nuclear decommissioning work being carried out by Sellafield Ltd.
“Our aim is to provide Sellafield Ltd with long-term supply chain capability and capacity, implementing standardised solutions, building innovation into design and delivery, managing obsolescence, and reducing lifecycle costs.” said Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood Specialist Technical Solutions.
The contract was secured thanks to a joint approach from nuclear and automation and controls specialists within Wood, a company statment said.
“Securing this important framework is proof of the rationale for acquiring Amec Foster Wheeler 12 months ago and a good revenue synergy," noted MacDonald. "We could not have won this contract as separate businesses."
