A new modern centre for training specialists in the construction and installation of NPPs has been commissioned at the Rooppur NPP under construction in Bangladesh. The training centre was created with the assistance of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) to provide general contractor ASE (Rosatom’s engineering division) and subcontractors with qualified construction and installation personnel and continuous training.
Alexey Deriy, who was appointed ASE’s Vice-President – Director for the Rooppur NPP construction project in February, said Bangladesh citizens hired by contractors who successfully pass their probationary period and show potential and desire for professional growth, “now have a unique opportunity to master a new profession or to improve their qualifications”. Deriy was previously head of construction at Russia’s Kursk NPP.
After completion of work on the Rooppur NPP construction project, highly qualified Bangladesh specialists trained at the new centre will have gained invaluable experience that will be in demand in all sectors of the economy, especially in industrial and civil construction, ASE said. This is the first project of its kind within ASE and is planned to be replicated to other NPP construction sites, including the El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt and Paks-ll in Hungary.
