Russia’s Gidropress (part of Rosatom’s mechanical engineering division Atomenergomash) has manufactured a set of drives for the Rooppur NPP under construction in Bangladesh. Bench acceptance tests of a set of step electromagnetic drives of the control and protection system of the CPS SHEM-3 reactor for Rooppur unit 2 have been completed. The set consists of 135 actuators. The tests were carried out at the stands of the Gidropress experimental research base in thermohydrodynamic conditions as close as possible to full-scale. The tests confirmed the functionality of each actuator included in the kit intended for delivery.
CPS drive SHEM-3 is designed for starting, power regulation and shutdown of the reactor by inserting control rods into or out of the core. The drive was designed and manufactured by OKB Gidropress, which is the developer of all modifications of the CPS drives of the SHEM type for NPPs with VVER reactors.
