South Korean company Doosan Enerbility has shipped a pressuriser to the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) under construction at Saint-Paul-les-Durance in southern France. The device was designed and manufactured by Doosan Enerbility under a contract to supply the pressuriser following an international competitive tender in 2020.
Doosan Enerbility’s pressurisers will maintain pressure and protect against overpressure for a heat exchange system to be installed in the test fusion reactor. The equipment requires the highest level of quality assurance and design verification to comply with European requirements. Doosan Enerbility began design and material procurement immediately after the contract was awarded and started production in March 2022. It completed production in April and verified the heater’s functionality and water pressure with the client.
