Russia’s RES Engineering has shipped the first batches of the regulatory valves to China’s Tianwan and Xudabao NPPs being built with Rosatom’s Assistance. A total of 34 pieces of equipment were delivered, including the DU80 valves (3rd and 4th safety classes), DU200 (3rd safety class), as well as DU300 (2nd safety class).

The equipment was manufactured in several stages. Some of the parts ware manufactured by India’s Dembla Valves Limited and final assembly was carried out at JSC Energomash (Chekhov) – ChZEM (Chekhovskii Zavod Energeticheskovo Mashinostroeniya – Chekhov Power Engineering Plant). ChZEM was the technology developer with the support of RES Engineering.

Tianwan 1&2 with VVER-1000 reactors were handed over to the customer and put into warranty operation in 2007. Units 3&4 were put into warranty operation in 2018. The same year, an intergovernmental protocol and a framework contract was signed with Rosatom for the construction of Tianwan 7&8 and Xudabao 3&4 with VVER-1200 reactors.

The first valve deliveries took place at the end of 2024, and the project is continuing. Currently, input control and installation of previously shipped valves is underway at Tianwan unit 7. Shipment of DU300 valves for Xudabao has been completed as well as all of the DU80 valves for unit 3. The immediate plans are for the supply of DU200 valves Xudabao 3 as well as the Du80 valves for Tianwan unit 8 and Xudabao unit 4. Delivery should be completed by early April.

“The Chinese side makes the highest demands on both the quality of the equipment and the accompanying documentation,” said leading engineer Sergey Vasiliev. “This interaction has given us an understanding of where to develop and what can be improved. This is our first project with a Chinese customer, and we are confident that it will become the basis for further cooperation.”
