The applications period for local governments to bid for the country’s first nuclear disposal site has been extended by four months to June by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The decision was a result of the fact that no regional governments had applied to house the site by the current deadline. The ministry also said KEPCO, the site contractor, will make a selection if it obtains no applications in the extended period or deems that a proposed site is inappropriate.
