A joint venture between AREVA of France and the China Nuclear Power Technology Research Institute has signed an agreement to supply incore instrumentation for Yangjiang 5&6 and Hongyanhe 5&6 in China.
Under the contract with Chinese utility China Nuclear Power Engineering, the AREVA-BRIC consortium,will equip four Chinese ACPR-1000 reactors planned for construction in Guangdong and Liaoning Provinces.
The incore instrumentation system measures the neutron fluxes and the temperature in the core of the reactor, and the information is used to adjust the reactor control and protection parameters, AREVA says.
"This contract consolidates our position in this market and strengthens the historic ties between AREVA and its Chinese customers," commented Remy Autebert, AREVA Asia region director.
The AREVA-BRICS consortium was set up in 2011 and specialises in the construction and maintenance of incore I&C for Chinese CPR1000 reactors.
