US-based Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc (BPMI), has been awarded a $175.6m contract modification from the US Navy for the production of naval nuclear propulsion components. The US Department of Defense said BPMI will perform work for the cost-plus-fixed-fee modification in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and Schenectady, New York. The project should be completed by September 2033.
The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington DC, as the contracting activity, will allocate an initial amount of $168.9m from the Navy’s fiscal 2025 other procurement funds and $6.8m from its fiscal 2025 shipbuilding and conversion funds. The funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
Earlier, in August 2024, BPMI won a $447m contract modification from the Navy, which will run until September 2033, covering the engine requirements for the production of naval nuclear propulsion components. In December 2023, BPMI was also awarded two contracts totalling $889m for the procurement of naval nuclear propulsion components. These cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts were worth $706m and $183m.
