Proposals to increase funding to Lithuania and Slovakia to compensate for the closure of nuclear reactors has opened the possibility that Bulgaria may receive an increased cash allowance too.
Bulgaria is to shut down units 3 and 4 of Kozloduy in 2006 as part of its EU accession agreement and will receive compensation of €210 million as part of the deal.
With Lithuania and Slovakia set to receive additional compensation a precedent has been set for Bulgaria which the country hopes to capitalise on.
