Entergy has selected CAE to upgrade its power plant simulator at Waterford 3. The order involves replacing the simulator’s primary models to increase fidelity and performance.
CAE will upgrade the thermal-hydraulics model used to simulate the reactor’s primary cooling system with ANTHEM2000. Also, the COMET mathematical model will be used to simulate the physics of the reactor core. ANTHEM2000 is an advanced two-phase thermal-hydraulic model with a graphical user interface that simplifies model maintenance.
The upgraded models are due to be developed, delivered, integrated with the balance of the Waterford 3 plant models and validated for optimal simulation fidelity by December 2001. The value of the order was not disclosed.
“The Waterford 3 plant is the third Entergy nuclear plant to choose CAE’s simulation products,” said Rashid Khan, executive vice president, marine and power systems at CAE. “We are pleased that Entergy has placed its confidence in CAE to meet its stringent simulation requirements, and we aim to expand our business relationship with them in the years to come.” Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One and Pilgrim plants have also chosen CAE’s simulation products .
