The Canadian government has begun the legislative process necessary to introduce an Act respecting the long-term management of nuclear fuel waste. Minister of natural resources Canada (NRCan), Ralph Goodale, said: “Together with the existing Nuclear Safety and Control Act, the proposed legislation will ensure that the long-term management of nuclear fuel waste will be carried out in a safe, environmentally sound, comprehensive, cost-effective and integrated manner.”
