The head of Exelon Nuclear, Michael J. Pacilio, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer of Exelon Generation.
Pacilio will have day-to-day operational responsibility for the safety, efficiency and reliability of Exelon Generation’s power generation fleet, which includes more than 100 generating units in 17 states. He will report to Exelon Generation president and CEO Kenneth W. Cornew.
Pacilio, who served as Exelon Nuclear’s president and chief nuclear officer since 2010, has more than 30 years of experience with the company and nuclear plant operations. Notably, Pacilio led the US nuclear industry’s development of two national nuclear emergency response centers as part of the industry’s response to the 2011 Fukushima events in Japan.
Bryan Hanson, previously chief operating officer of Exelon Nuclear, has been promoted to president and chief nuclear officer, replacing Pacilio.
Hanson, as president and CNO, takes over operational and organisational responsibility for the largest fleet of nuclear power stations in the US, with more than 11,000 employees and 23 reactors.
Exelon said that both promotions are effective immediately.
