Russia’s Atomstroyexport says it has completed the Shelter stabilisation project at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine.

A consortium, led by Atomstroyexport CJSC, has completed the three-year stabilisation project at Chernobyl and as a result, the stability of the “sarcophagus” has been significantly enhanced, while the life of the plant has been prolonged for 10–15 years. This project is a temporary measure before the construction of a new safe confinement.

The Russian-Ukrainian Stabilisation consortium was led by Atomstroyexport and comprised several Ukrainian companies: Yuzhteploenergomontazh, Atomenergostroyproject, and the Department for Rovno NPP Construction.
