Westinghouse has won two fuel-related contracts in China. In the first contract, Westinghouse will provide first-of-a-kind engineering services to Shanghai Gaotai Rare and Precious Metals Company, along with 10t of its zirconium alloy TREX. The materials will help in fuel cladding production for China’s growing nuclear fuel market.
The second contract is a five-year engineering and technology co-operation agreement with the Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute. Westinghouse said the agreement will enable future cooperation between the institute and Westinghouse during China’s planned nuclear expansion.
