Hot testing was completed on 7 May at unit 4 of China’s Fuqing NPP under construction in Fujian province. Project owner China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said completion of hot testing paves the way for fuel loading and the start of the reactor commissioning phase.
Construction of the 1087MWe Fuqing 4, a domestic Generation II CPR-1000 pressurised water reactor unit, began in November 2012.
The tests, which started on 25 March, were completed three days ahead of schedule. CNNC said the CPR-1000 pressurised water reactor, scheduled to start up later this year, has now officially entered the fuel loading stage.
