Brazil Brazil’s government will make a decision this September on whether or not it intends to proceed with construction of the 1300MWe, $1.7 billion Angra 3. If it proceeds, construction is due to recommence early in 2003.

The head of the Brazilian Nuclear Institute, Everton Carvalho, said that he expected a favourable decision from the government. He said that project financing schemes, involving international banks, had already been prepared and were awaiting the go-ahead from the government’s energy council.
