The Department of Energy’s (DoE’s) Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has recently ordered a $24.5 million supercomputer, which will become one of the top supercomputers in the world.
The 8.3 terraflop computer will help researchers use computer models in order to investigate how radioactive waste can be processed.
“This new computing power will advance scientific study in a host of areas, and keep DoE and our national laboratories on the cutting edge of technology,” said US secretary of energy Spencer Abraham.
