Grants totalling $22 million have been awarded to 37 US universities by the Depatment of Energy to support nuclear energy education and infrastructure.
About half the money will go toward funding existing programmes, while the other will help to start new projects at institutions such as the University of Arizona, the University of Cincinnati, Georgia Institute of Technology, Purdue University and Tuskegee University.
Twenty reactor instrumentation upgrade grants and 21 reactor sharing grants are counted among improvements to facilities.
