Electricité de France (EdF) has signed cooperation agreements with China Datang Corp (CDC) and China Guangdong National Power Co (CGNPC) covering power developments in the country, including nuclear generation.
The agreement, with CGNPC extends the existing cooperation between the two partners to the nuclear generation sector, where EdF remains poised to invest.
EdF was involved alongside CGNPC in the construction and commissioning of the Daya Bay and Ling Ao nuclear power plants, comprising four 1000 MWe units in service and two 1000 MWe units under construction in the province of Guangdong. CGNPC is also in charge of the development of many of China’s new nuclear projects, including the two 1000 MWe units at Hongyanhe in Liaonning province, where site preparation work was recently completed.
The framework cooperation agreement with state-owned CDC, China’s biggest electricity producer, is mainly concerned with the joint development of investment projects for the construction, operation and management of power generation in China.
Pierre Gadonneix, EdF chairman and chief executive, signed the two industrial partnership agreements with Zhai Ruoyu, chairman of Datang, and Qian Zhimin, chairman of Guangdong National Power during a recent visit to the country.
