China Pacific Insurance Company insured equipment to be delivered to the Tianwan plant for $450 million, an unprecedented sum for China. About 22,000t of equipment will be shipped 12,000 miles from St Petersburg to the plant between 2001-2004. The cost of the first section of the VVER-1000 plant is estimated to be $3.2 billion.
