Italian state-owned decommissioning and waste management company Societa Gestione Impianti Nucleari (Sogin) has signed an eight-year framework contract with the European Commission's Ispra Joint Research Centre (JRC).
Under the contract, Sogin will provide technical assistance to JRC in implementing its decommissioning and radioactive waste management programme. The contract was, awarded on 13 October following an international tender.
The required services encompass technical assessment and studies, assistance in licensing and authorisation procedure, assessment of nuclear safety and risk issues, support in quality assurance for decommissioning issues, legal assistance with nuclear regulatory matters and evaluation of technical proposals.
