CB&I has received a contract from Exelon Generation to provide maintenance, modification and construction services at five nuclear power plant units in New York and Maryland. The agreement is valued at $800 million over five years.

The contract is an expansion of CB&I’s existing scope of work for 17 other Exelon nuclear power units. It appears to relate to work at Calvert Cliffs 1&2 (MD), Nine Mile Point 1&2 (NY) and Ginna (NY), which Exelon acquired through its $7.9 billion merger with Constellation Energy in 2012.

Under the terms of the agreement, CB&I will also provide temporary staffing, painting and insulation services at all Exelon-owned and operated nuclear units, bringing the total number of units under contract to 22.

"This award underscores CB&I’s expertise in nuclear maintenance, modification and construction and our commitment to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our customer’s facilities," said Patrick K. Mullen, president of CB&I’s Engineering, Construction and Maintenance operating group.

The Shaw Group, which was acquired by CB&I last year, has been providing fleet-wide nuclear maintenance services to Exelon since 2001.
