GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has been awarded an integrated outage contract to provide services for Exelon Nuclear’s entire fleet of boiling water reactor (BWRs). The contract worth almost $150 million calls for GEH to assist with refuel floor activities and under-vessel inspection services.

The agreement is effective immediately and will run until completion of the spring outage season in 2015. The contract covers all 12 of Exelon’s BWRs: Clinton, Dresden 2&3, Lasalle 1&2, Quad Cities 1&2, Peach Bottom 2&3, Limerick 1&2 and Oyster Creek. GE was the original designer for these BWR units.

“We are excited to continue working to help Exelon Nuclear find innovative ways to reduce its operational costs by minimizing the critical path of outages throughout the BWR fleet,” said Kevin Lagasse, senior vice president, nuclear services for GEH.
