On 18 March, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published the results of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Huizhou Taipingling Phase I nuclear power plant, in Guangdong province.
The Taipingling plant will feature two HPR1000 (Hualong One) units. First concrete for Taipingling 1 is planned for June 2019 and for unit 2 in April 2020.
The news follows approval in February for two HPR1000 units at Zhangzhou in Fujian province.
The total investment for Taipingling is about CNY41.2 billion ($6.1bn), approximately the same as for Zhangzhou, according to Shanghai-based energy consultancy group Nicobar.
