Security experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have concluded that there is “no evidence that sensitive nuclear areas were under any threat” when South Africa’s Pelindaba nuclear plant was invaded by armed men last November.

Following an inquiry, the IAEA team said a 2006 security upgrade plan for the plant provides an “appropriate basis” for ensuring physical protection of nuclear material and facilities at the site, while making specific further proposals on security training and equipment.
