International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi has visited Kaliningrad for talks with Rosatom. The Russian delegation, led by Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev, included the head of regulator Rostekhnadzor, Alexander Trembitsky, as well as representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Radiation, Chemical & Biological Defense Troops of the Russian Armed Forces and Rosgvardi.
The main topic of consultation was the safety of the Zaporizhia NPP. Alexey Likhachev confirmed the readiness of the Russian side to continue active work to ensure the safe operation of the NPP in the context of ongoing Ukrainian attacks. He confirmed there were no plans to restart operation of the plant, which is currently in cold shutdown. He also touched upon interaction with IAEA experts at the station. Grossi, in turn, gave his assessment of the situation at the NPP. The two sides agreed to continue contact on a regular basis.
