Turboatom, Ukraine’s biggest manufacturer of electricity generation equipment, has been contracted to supply equipment to four units at India’s Kaiga and Rajasthan plants.
The $70 million contract was signed during a state visit by Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma to India. The state holds a 75.22% share of the Kharkiv-based company. Other Kharkiv enterprises are also involved in the 30-month deal.
Unit 3 at the Kaiga plant is expected to start operation in March 2007, and unit 4 the following September. Units 5 and 6 at the Rajasthan plant are expected to commence operation in August 2007 and February 2008 respectively.
