USA-based Jacobs Engineering Group announced on 29 May that it had been awarded a four-year framework agreement by the UK’s Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) to provide decommissioning services at the UK's former centre for experimental fast breeder research in Scotland.
Major projects expected to be delivered as part of the decommissioning services framework, which is valued at up to £400 million ($518 million), include construction of a size reduction facility, shaft and silo decommissioning and demolition of historic active laboratories.
The framework, spanning four years with possible extensions of up to three years, has been awarded to six organisations. The winners of the decommissioning services framework were announced by DRSL last month.
"This is a complex and significant programme of work which is central to our shared vision with DSRL to make the site and surrounding area safe and clean for future generations," said Pete Lutwyche, Jacobs Aerospace, Technology and Nuclear International senior vice president and general manager.
