Japan’s Kansai Electric Power Co has announced plans to streamline its nuclear power management system eliminating a layer of management to enable a swifter emergency response.

The decision reportedly followed an accident at one of its three nuclear plants in Fukui Prefecture in which a steam leak killed a number of employees and injured several more.

The plan makes its management system double-layered from the current three-layered system and speeds up the in-house flow of information.
