The Krsko nuclear power plant, in Slovenia was reconnected to the national grid on 30 December following its automatic closure the previous day triggered by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake.
The plant announced that the equipment had been “systematically inspected and tested" and it confirmed that "the plant has not suffered any damage, the systems are functioning properly".
The single unit Krsko NPP, located in Slovenia near the border with Croatia, generates some 40% of Slovenia's electricity output. Its two-loop 688MWe Westinghouse pressurised water reactor began commercial operation in January 1983.
