Kyushu Electric Power Co has filed an application with the Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) for permission to construct Unit 3 (APWR, 1,590 MW) at its Sendai Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), located in the city of Satsuma-Sendai in Kagoshima Prefecture. Unit construction would begin in late 2013, according to Japan Atomic Industry Forum.
