The World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI) has announced the appointment of Professor Peter Bryant as CEO from March 2025. Professor Bryant is currently Director of ESG & Radiation Strategy at Sizewell C/EDF Energy and was the former Head of Environment, Decommissioning & Radiation Safety. He has a background in environmental and radiation protection with over 16 years of experience working across the Nuclear Fuel Cycle.
He was also former President of the UK’s Society for Radiological Protection and holds an Honorary Professorship in Physics at the University of Liverpool specialising in Radiation Protection Science, Nuclear Energy Policy and Nuclear Reactor Technology.
Jessica Boutteau, Chair of the WNTI Board said his expertise in the nuclear sector, “especially in safety, security and radiation protection, combined with his leadership in the international scientific arenas, makes him the ideal person to lead WNTI into the future”. Professor Bryant commented: “There has never been a more exciting time for nuclear industry. The global commitment to triple nuclear capacity, coupled with the decommissioning of legacy sites, and potential use of nuclear technologies in areas such as maritime movements, aviation and space places an increasing importance on ensuring the safe and secure transport of nuclear materials.”
