Philippe Knoche has been named by Areva as the General Project Director of the Olkiluoto 3 project with effect from 1 December.

A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines, 37 year-old Knoche will be in overall charge of delivering Europe’s first new reactor for several decades.

The move comes after the project was delayed by an estimated six months due to issues related to concrete composition at the facility, under development in Finland.
