Unit 2 of Ling Ao phase II (Ling Dong 2) nuclear power plant has begun commissioning after completing a six-day 48 minute cold function test.
The plant’s other reactor Unit 1 finished its cold test on 25 September. It has just celebrated the start of core loading operations.
Both reactors are 1000MWe CPR-1000 units. Unit 2 is predicted to start commercial operation in June 2011.
According to CGNPC, unit 2 had a transformer fire on May 16, though on-site fire suppression systems put it out without casualties or any effect on plant systems.
