The UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has named three companies short-listed to tender for a Low Level Waste management contract at Drigg in West Cumbria.
Babcock, EnergySolutions and the Washington Group emerged successfully to the second stage of the tender, which was announced 1 June.
Along with management of the Drigg national low level waste disposal facility and provisions for future capacity in Vaults 8 and 9, the winning bidder will look to the “development of a UK-wide Low Level Waste solution” to manage the increased levels of waste generated by the NDA decommissioning programme.
An announcement on the contract award is due to be made in October 2007.
