US-based NAC International (NAC) has formed a new wholly owned subsidiary, NAC LPT, to acquire selected assets of SECUR LPT, a leading provider of hazardous and radioactive waste logistics, packaging equipment, transportation, and technical services.
In addition to major sales contracts and accounts, NAC LPT (which stands for Logistics, Packaging and Technical Services) is acquiring some assets of SECUR LPT, including a fleet of intermodal IP-1 containers, articulated bulk container rail cars and specially-lidded gondola railcars. This equipment is essential to relocate safely and securely large amounts of waste materials from remediation sites across the USA to processing facilities or disposal sites.
Key SECUR LPT employees have opted to join the NAC LPT subsidiary and will support existing projects and business relationships.
NAC noted that NAC LPT expands the company's business and capabilities beyond packaging and transportation of high activity nuclear waste and spent fuel by adding a "wider array of resources and experience in logistics, packaging and technical services for hazardous and low-level radioactive waste materials".
NAC’s combined engineering, licensing, and packaging experience, together with the waste management coordination and logistics experience of NAC LPT, will ensure seamless collaboration to meet customer demands in support of dismantling, decommissioning and remediation projects regardless of waste types and class.
