NDA launches PBO competition

12 April 2007

The UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has announced the launch of a competition to secure a Parent Body Organisation (PBO) for the Magnox South Site Licence Company (SLC) which will brings together the Berkeley, Bradwell, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, and Sizewell A nuclear sites.

The competition seeks a company or consortium to act as the PBO that will own shares in the Magnox South SLC for the period of the contract with an annual spend of some £225 million ($450 million).

The NDA also announced that Energy Solutions and Jacobs have withdrawn from the competition, citing the need to support ongoing commitments to the NDA, BNG and other clients.

Meanwhile, the NDA chairman, Sir Anthony Cleaver, has announced his retirement at the end of his three year contract, due in July.
